Mark (United States) HR2 / General Affairs / Overseas Recruiter
Message : I taught music for 21 years in America, so when I started in Tachikawa Language Center, I felt right at home teaching children and adults. What impressed me most about Berlitz was it's well-defined career ladder. The "Berlitz Instructor Qualification Program" not only recognized my experience as an educator, but also provided the necessary link to teaching English as a second language.

9:00am- Daily Tasks

I begin my day going through applications and resumes we have received at HQ. This is the beginning of our recruiting process. We sort by language, location desired, and domestic or overseas interview. Lesson quality begins with this review. It continues through the remainder of the hiring process, the "Berlitz Instructor Qualification Program," and throughout the employee's tenure at Berlitz with support in the Language Center.

1:00pm- Interviews

Today I have two overseas interviews I will conduct using the PC. I make telephone calls and Internet connections with applicants on nearly every continent. I start with an applicant in the United States and at 4:00pm I'll be interviewing another applicant in Australia. Afterwards, other members of the Human Resources department will help me determine potential second interviews in Language Centers for these overseas applicants.

6:00pm- Teamwork

It is time to review all those resumes and the questionnaires that applicants have returned. Our Japanese staff are very important to this process as they can view the applicants from the customers' perspective. Teamwork is very important to meeting our customers' expectations.
