HOME > Daily Life at Berlitz - Kids' Coordinator

I start the day with a few lessons in the morning. Sometimes I have out service lessons at a corporate or university site. Our Language Center has a very diverse group of students from young children to business people and retirees.

I receive an "Office" for being Kids' Coordinator. Often this time is used to meet with my Instructional Supervisor, other instructors and staff to discuss our Young Learners' program in the Language Center. We also plan parties or other events during this time. Many times an "Office" will be assigned to me to train and mentor instructors and staff in the Language Center.

I'm preparing to teach my Young Learners. These students meet in groups of from 4-6 students. Sometimes I give demo lessons for potential new students. Their mothers often join them for a portion of these demos so they get a taste of what the instruction is like. I enjoy teaching the different levels, especially English Beat Starter. The students work hard to connect what they have learned in previous levels. The students enjoy putting what they learn into words and phrases they can read.

Children are quite different to teach than adults, but we do have fun and I enjoy helping students meet their goals in English. When I first came to Berlitz, I didn't feel very confident teaching kids' lessons. But I was given a lot of support and training and this gave me the confidence to teach Young Learners at Berlitz. It's a lot of fun!
